NiMet Predicts Thunderstorms and Rain Across Nigeria for Next 3 Days Starting Monday
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted rainy and thundery weather conditions across various parts of the country from Monday through Wednesday.
According to the outlook released in Abuja, isolated thunderstorms are expected in northern states like Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba during Monday morning, while intermittent rains will affect Niger, Benue, Kogi, Kwara, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In the afternoon and evening, localized rain is anticipated over parts of the FCT, Plateau, Niger, and Nasarawa. States in the southeast and southern regions, including Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Imo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Cross River, can also expect rain in the morning.
On Tuesday, thunderstorms are expected in states like Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, and Taraba during the morning, with further thunderstorms likely in Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, and other northern regions later in the day.
The central region, including Benue, Kogi, FCT, and Nasarawa, will likely experience rain in the morning and afternoon, while southern states will continue to see intermittent rain throughout the day.
Wednesday’s forecast includes thunderstorms in Kebbi, Bauchi, Sokoto, Borno, and Katsina in the morning, extending to additional northern states by the afternoon. Rain is also expected in parts of the FCT and Niger State during the morning, with more rain predicted for Nasarawa, Plateau, and Niger later in the day. The southern region will see moderate rains during both the morning and afternoon hours.
