Engineer Julius Inedu, a senior APC figure, has criticized calls to shut down the Ade-Egwu Trailer Park in Orokam, Benue State, calling such demands misguided and harmful to the local economy.

His remarks follow suggestions by Dan Onjeh, APC senatorial candidate, and others who linked the park to recent kidnappings and insecurity in Ogbadibo Local Government Area.

Inedu emphasized that there is no credible intelligence or official proof that the trailer park is a haven for criminals. He warned that closing it would unfairly impact thousands of traders and workers who rely on it for their livelihoods.

He questioned if insecurity justifies shutting down every market in Ogbadibo, stressing that such actions would harm the entire local government.

Instead, Inedu advocated for stronger collaboration with security agencies, local leaders, and vigilantes to enhance safety measures without crippling legitimate commerce.

“Insecurity must be tackled with wisdom and vision, not fear-driven decisions that hurt the very people we claim to represent,” he concluded.
