Peter Obi Condemns Adamawa LG Wives’ Turkey Trip Funded by Public Fund

Peter Obi, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, criticized the reported trip of the wives of 21 local government chairmen in Adamawa State to Turkey, allegedly funded with public money under the pretext of leadership training.

In a post on his verified X account, Obi called the trip a “glaring case of waste” and “a mockery of the very essence of governance.” He highlighted the irony of this extravagance while basic education in local governments suffers from a lack of classrooms and teachers.

Obi emphasized that local government funds belong to the people—market women, farmers, teachers, pensioners—and any misuse is an abuse of office that should not be tolerated.
