Police Service Commission Promotes 684 Senior Officers

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the promotion of 684 senior police officers. Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, revealed that the promotions were approved during a preliminary meeting with the new PSC Chairman in Abuja. The meeting, led by Chairman DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), was attended by DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), Honourable Commissioner, and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission.

The promotions include eight Commissioners of Police elevated to Assistant Inspectors General of Police, and 15 Deputy Commissioners of Police promoted to full Commissioners of Police. Additionally, 52 Chief Superintendents of Police have been promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police, 525 Superintendents of Police to Chief Superintendents of Police, and 84 Deputy Superintendents to Superintendents of Police. ASP Patrick Ebhodahe has also been promoted to Deputy Superintendent of Police.

The PSC indicated that the eight Commissioners and 15 Deputy Commissioners underwent assessments as part of the promotion process.

Chairman Argungu emphasized that future promotions will be based on merit and assured that deserving officers will not face unnecessary delays in their promotions.

The newly promoted Assistant Inspectors General of Police include:

– Suleiman Mohammed Abdul, Acting Assistant Inspector General of Police, Force Headquarters Abuja
– CP Augustina Nwuka Ogbodo, Ebonyi State Command
– CP Stephen Olanrewaju, Admin, Works, Force Headquarters Abuja
– CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, Abia State Command
– CP Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, Lagos State Command
– CP Adegboyega Funsho Adegboye, Admin, FID, Abuja
– CP Mohammed Bala Labbo, Communication DICT Force Headquarters, Abuja

The 15 Deputy Commissioners promoted to Commissioners include:
