Tafawa-Balewa urges Tinubu to cut ministers, tackle insecurity
Amid Nigeria’s ongoing economic challenges, former PDP presidential candidate Dr. Abdul-Jhalil Tafawa Balewa has called on President Bola Tinubu to reduce the number of ministers in his administration.
Tafawa-Balewa urged Tinubu to cut governance costs to free up resources for development and suggested reinforcing the cabinet with technocrats to ensure more efficient management.
Speaking in Lagos, the Consultant Nuclear Chemist specializing in food preservation, stated, “The President needs to adapt to modern times by appointing individuals with updated skills to manage various ministries. With about 48 ministries, it’s crucial to reduce the number to save costs.”
He also stressed the need for Tinubu to prioritize addressing insecurity, including kidnappings and insurgency, to allow farmers to return to their fields and boost food production.
“Without security, improving food production is impossible. We also have the technology for food preservation and distribution,” he concluded.
