The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has refuted claims that it is responsible for the recent power outage affecting several parts of Abuja.

This comes in response to a statement from the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), which had attributed the blackout in areas including Dilic Hotel, Prime Plaza, Exclusive Stores, Gilmore, Takwa Crescent, and the Former Zartech area to a “technical fault” allegedly originating from TCN.

In a statement issued Thursday, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah dismissed AEDC’s claims as inaccurate.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) informs the public that the power outage affecting Dilic Hotel, Prime Plaza, Exclusive Stores, PENCOM, AMCON, Gilmore, Takwa Crescent, Former Zartech, and its environs is not due to a technical fault from TCN, contrary to AEDC’s claim,” the statement read.

Mbah further clarified that TCN’s feeders supplying electricity to the affected areas are fully operational.

“For emphasis, TCN’s feeders serving these areas are functioning normally,” she said.

The conflicting statements from TCN and AEDC have left many Abuja residents confused and uncertain about the real cause of the blackout.
