The Simon Ekpa-led Biafra Republic Government In-Exile anticipates favorable statements from the United States government supporting Biafra liberation, following high-level meetings with US congressional officials, lobbyists, and stakeholders arranged by BRGIE.

Ekpa disclosed in a statement on Thursday that these discussions, held in early July 2024, resulted in significant outcomes, including US officials expressing interest in issuing supportive statements on BRGIE and Biafra-related matters in the coming months.

He emphasized the achievements of his administration’s “multi-dimensional approach” towards Biafran independence and highlighted the effectiveness of lobbying efforts.

Meanwhile, within Nigeria, there has been a renewed public call for Biafra’s liberation and the release of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. This call has been echoed by Southeast governors and members of the National Assembly from the region, although the Federal Government has yet to comment on the matter.
