ABU Mourns as Renowned Mass Communication Scholar, Prof. Ladi Adamu, Dies at 67

A distinguished professor of Mass Communication at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Ladi Sandra Adamu, has passed away at the age of 67.

Her death was confirmed on Wednesday by her colleague, Associate Professor Muhammad Hashim Suleiman, of the Department of Mass Communication, in a post shared on his official Facebook page.

According to reports by NIGERIA NEWS 247, Prof. Adamu — the first female professor of broadcasting in Northern Nigeria — died after a prolonged battle with breast cancer.

Her passing has plunged the ABU community, especially the Department of Mass Communication, as well as her former students and alumni, into deep mourning.

Born on January 17, 1958, Prof. Ladi Adamu hailed from Plateau State, Nigeria, and was widely celebrated for her pioneering contributions to broadcasting and media education in the country.
