Popular Nigerian Singer John Mai Molo Dies After Consuming Suspected Poisoned Meal

John Zuya, famously known as John Mai Molo, a celebrated traditional musician, has died after allegedly consuming poisoned food in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Zuya had recently returned from Lagos on October 16, 2025, where he performed at several cultural events. Shortly after eating the suspected meal, he reportedly fell ill and collapsed.

He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Emma Wakili, a fellow musician and close associate, confirmed Zuya’s death in a Facebook post, revealing that he passed away around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

His body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy, as investigations into the cause of his death are ongoing.
