2027: NNPP denies members’ defection to ADC in Katsina
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dismissed reports claiming that its 34 local government chairmen in Katsina State have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or any other political party.
In a statement released Monday in Katsina, NNPP State Chairman, Alhaji Armaya’u Abdulkadir, described the reports as misleading and clarified that the individuals referenced are no longer affiliated with the NNPP.
“The attention of the NNPP Katsina chapter has been drawn to some publications circulated by certain media outlets and across social media platforms, alleging that 34 NNPP local government chairmen have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC),” the statement read.
Abdulkadir clarified that those individuals had earlier left the NNPP following the 2023 presidential elections and had joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). He emphasized that any recent defections to the ADC were from the APC, not the NNPP.
“It is on record that some of our former chairmen defected to the APC after the 2023 elections. The same individuals are now reportedly joining the ADC from the APC, and not from the NNPP,” he added.
The party urged the public and media to verify facts before dissemination and reiterated its commitment to strengthening its structure in Katsina State.
