Speaking on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, Obi questioned the rationale behind Kanu’s prolonged incarceration, suggesting it appears to be based merely on his criticism of the government.

Obi emphasized the need for a political rather than a punitive approach, not just in Kanu’s case, but in addressing similar situations across the country. He stressed that resolving such issues through dialogue and political engagement is more effective than prolonged detention.
