At least 774 members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) have officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rimin Gado Local Government Area of Kano State.

The defectors were received into the APC on Friday by Rabiu Bichi, Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jam’are River Basin Development Authority, who described their decision as bold and “lucky.” Bichi asserted that the APC remains the only party capable of driving meaningful development in Nigeria.

He cited numerous projects executed by President Bola Tinubu in the northern region as evidence of the APC-led government’s commitment. In Kano State alone, Bichi noted, over 18 major projects worth billions of naira have been completed. He also criticized some state governments for diverting federal funds meant for development to other sectors.

“The Renewed Hope Agenda is already delivering positive outcomes, including economic recovery and strengthened food security through various agricultural programs. I assure you that you will be fully integrated and treated as long-standing APC members,” Bichi said.

Mohammad Karofin-Yashi, leader of the defectors, stated that the group’s decision was motivated by the APC administration’s development initiatives. He expressed confidence that the party will elevate Kano and the nation, pledging to encourage more NNPP members to defect to the APC in the near future.
