The Abia State chapter of the Obidient Movement has announced plans to stage a massive ‘One Million Man March’ in honour of Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

According to a statement issued in Umuahia on Sunday by Chibuzor Obiesili, a coordinator of the group, and Christian Emmanuel, Head of the Media & Publicity Sub-committee, the march is scheduled to take place on July 19—coinciding with Obi’s birthday.

The procession will be held simultaneously across four major towns in the state: Umuahia, Aba, Ohafia, and Uzuakoli.

The Obidient Movement expressed full support for Obi’s recent political alignment with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he is reportedly adopting as a platform for his 2027 presidential bid. The group described the ADC as an “Organic Coalition Movement” committed to systemic change.

“Obi believes that to dismantle the structures that keep our people in poverty and insecurity, we must build bridges and not walls—even when those bridges are difficult,” the statement read.

In addition to the solidarity march, members of the movement plan to engage in charitable outreach activities. These include visits to prisons, hospitals, and other institutions across Abia State to offer support to inmates, patients, and vulnerable individuals.
