APC Establishes Nomination Fees for Local Government Elections in Katsina State

The Katsina State APC Working Committee has announced the official nomination fees for those aspiring to contest local government chairmanship and councillor positions in the upcoming elections.

During a press briefing at the Katsina Government House Banquet Hall, the State Deputy Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Bala Abu Musawa, confirmed that the nomination fee for the local government chairmanship position is set at N5 million. Additionally, aspiring councillors will be required to pay a fee of N1.5 million for their nomination forms.

Musawa stressed that all payments for the nomination forms must be made directly into the party’s account. The sale of nomination forms will commence from May 1st to May 4th, 2024.

He further disclosed that completed forms must be returned to the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) by Thursday, May 9, 2024. According to the election timetable issued by SIEC, primary elections for council chairmen are scheduled for Saturday, May 18, followed by councillorship primaries on Wednesday.

Subsequently, the final list of candidates emerging from the primaries will be submitted to the State Electoral Commission on Monday, May 20th. Musawa urged all contestants to strictly adhere to the election guidelines, particularly regarding electioneering campaigns.
