A group of stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State has raised alarms about the party’s declining condition.

The Tinubu/Shettima Foundation, which convened its general meeting in Yola, the state capital, on Saturday, reported a pervasive disunity within the party. Members criticized the lack of respect from party leaders towards loyal members and highlighted the urgent need for intervention to prevent further disintegration.

Representatives from the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State attended the meeting, expressing concern over the party’s internal discord. They emphasized that immediate action is required to prevent the party from collapsing.

NIGERIA NEWS 247 notes that disunity was a significant factor in the APC’s loss of the governorship seat in 2019, following a period of governance from 2015.

Alhaji Yahaya Hammanjulde, chairman of the Tinubu/Shettima Foundation, warned in a press interview that many party members might defect to other parties if the issues plaguing the APC are not resolved. He described the current state of the party as critical, stating, “This party is on the brink of sinking. We are in a sinking boat, and without prompt intervention from stakeholders, the boat will sink very soon.”
