APC Slams Amaechi for Allegedly Opposing Tinubu’s Reelection
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday strongly criticized former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi over his statement urging Nigerians to mobilize to defeat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Describing Amaechi’s comments as “well-deserved contempt” and “political hallucination,” the state party spokesperson, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, argued that a politician rejected at home cannot successfully lead a national movement against Tinubu.
In a statement, Oladejo questioned how someone declared politically non-grata could call for nationwide mobilization. He said:
“Amaechi is free to dream, but he must stop mistaking his nightmares for national reality. Amaechi is a political orphan—disowned in Rivers, irrelevant nationally, and steadily sinking into total political oblivion.
“In Rivers State, mentioning Amaechi’s name in political discussions is now seen as a provocative joke. A man who has lost his structure, followers, and voice suddenly finds the courage to lecture Nigerians on how to ‘mobilize.’
“Mobilize who? The few loyalists left in his WhatsApp group? Politicians who abandoned him after he lost the presidential primaries? The Rivers electorate that no longer takes him seriously? You cannot lead a national movement when your own backyard has padlocked the gate against you.”
