Delta Central APC Backs Governor Oborevwori as Sole Candidate for 2027 Gubernatorial Race
The Delta Central Senatorial District Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared full support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, endorsing him as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Delta State.
The endorsement came during a strategic meeting held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in Sapele, presided over by Chief Paulinus Akpeki, APC State Vice Chairman and Chairman for Delta Central. The session was attended by members of the State Executive Committee and local government party chairmen from the senatorial district.
Speaking to Nigeria News 247 after the meeting, Chief Akpeki praised Governor Oborevwori’s performance, describing his accomplishments under the M.O.R.E. Agenda as “unprecedented” and reflective of a strong commitment to governance, infrastructure, and inclusive leadership.
“Following a comprehensive review of his performance since assuming office, we reaffirm our total support for His Excellency as the sole candidate of our party for 2027,” Akpeki said.
The committee lauded the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, human capital development, security, healthcare, and education, and urged all APC stakeholders across the state to rally behind his leadership to ensure continued peace and development.
They also warned against intra-party competition, advising potential aspirants to shelve plans to contest in 2027, citing the need to maintain party unity and avoid distractions.
“At this point, what is needed is total cooperation to allow the governor focus on delivering the dividends of democracy,” the statement read.
The committee further cautioned critics and detractors to cease actions that may hinder the administration’s progress, calling instead for unity and collective support for the governor’s developmental vision.
The meeting ended with a unanimous vote of confidence in Governor Oborevwori and a pledge by attendees to work closely with him and the party’s leadership to advance Delta State’s growth and stability.
