Delta LG Poll: Governor Oborevwori Affirms Commitment to Free and Fair Elections
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State reiterated his belief in free, fair, and credible elections during the grand finale and mega rally of his party in Asaba today, ahead of the local government council elections scheduled for Saturday.
Predicting victory for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship and councilorship candidates, Governor Oborevwori praised their efforts in campaigning tirelessly from community to community, unit to unit, and ward to ward.
Addressing supporters at the rally, the governor expressed gratitude for the opportunity to endorse and campaign for the PDP candidates in Asaba. He also acknowledged the unwavering support of the party’s founding members.
Taking aim at a former gubernatorial candidate who alleged potential election rigging on a televised program, Governor Oborevwori criticized the claims, highlighting the electoral umpire’s assurances of a well-prepared process for the upcoming elections.
Referring to the candidate’s previous electoral performance, the governor emphasized the need for credible electoral practices and encouraged voters to turn out with their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) on election day.
Governor Oborevwori also welcomed the defection of All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship and councillorship candidates from Udu Local Government to the PDP, citing it as a positive move for democracy. He urged peaceful participation in the electoral process, emphasizing the importance of non-violence and urged voters to cast their ballots peacefully.
Dr. Kingsley Esiso, State Chairman of the PDP, echoed these sentiments, affirming the party’s readiness for the elections and urging continuous support from the people for the state’s progress.
At the rally, former APC members from across the state joined the PDP, pledging their commitment to the party’s growth and contributing to Delta State’s development. Benjamin Okiemute Essien, speaking on behalf of the defectors, expressed confidence in securing victory for the PDP in Isoko in future elections, underscoring his dedication to advancing the state’s interests.
