The reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Friday declared himself an unofficial member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Shaibu clarified that he is still technically a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because he has not formally severed ties with the party. He made these remarks during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

Explaining his support for the APC governorship candidate in Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, Shaibu stated that he no longer aligns with the PDP. He said, “In the PDP now, everybody can support whoever they like. The constitution guarantees that you can support whoever you want and belong to any political party.”

Shaibu recently donated campaign vehicles to Okpebholo, despite his ongoing conflict with Governor Godwin Obaseki, which led to his impeachment as deputy governor. However, an Abuja Federal High Court reinstated Shaibu as deputy governor on Thursday.
