Former NNPP Chairman, Habib, Credits Kwankwaso for Party’s Rise to Prominence
A former Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano, Malam Hisham Habib, has challenged the assertion made by the National Chairman of the Party, Dr. Boniface Aniebonum, regarding Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya group’s alleged betrayal. Hisham argued that the entry of Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the National Leader and Presidential Candidate of the Party in 2023, actually revitalized the party, surpassing its previous achievements.
Contrary to the claims of the party’s founder, Hisham contended that Kwankwaso’s involvement significantly elevated the party’s stature. He noted that prior to Kwankwaso’s arrival, the party was languishing with weak structures, unable to make significant progress, particularly at the state level. Therefore, he urged the party’s founder and his supporters to acknowledge Kwankwaso’s positive impact instead of harboring resentment.
Highlighting Kwankwaso’s notable contributions, Hisham emphasized the groundbreaking victory secured by NNPP in the governorship election, where they achieved unprecedented success with the highest number of votes nationwide. He also pointed out the party’s remarkable presence in the national assembly, attributing these achievements to Kwankwaso’s leadership and widespread support.
Furthermore, Hisham called on the Chairman of the Board of Trustees to demonstrate maturity and overlook the actions of saboteurs, emphasizing Kwankwaso’s consistency and respectability in his dealings with supporters. He underscored Kwankwaso’s global and national reputation, which has attracted diverse Nigerians to the party, solidifying his position as a natural leader based on his political track record.
