Ibrahim Koki Dumps NNPP Citing Persistent Leadership Crises
Hon. Engr. Sagir Ibrahim Koki, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources and Member representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, has resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), citing persistent leadership crises at the party’s national level.
In a resignation letter dated November 11, 2025, addressed to the Zaitawa Ward Chairperson, Koki explained that the ongoing internal disputes at the party’s centre hindered his ability to effectively represent his constituents.
“I have taken this decision because the internal crisis in the party leadership at the centre has made it difficult, if not impossible, for me to continue discharging my duties and provide my people with the desired representation in the House of Representatives,” he wrote.
Koki expressed gratitude to the NNPP for providing him with a platform to serve, describing the experience as invaluable. He also noted that his resignation is in line with Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution and the party’s constitution.
His departure comes just two days after Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, left the NNPP to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
