Kogi LG Elections: APC Secures 21 Chairmanship Seats and 239 Councillorship Positions
The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission has announced that candidates from the All Progressives Congress have won all 21 local government chairmanship positions and 239 councillorship seats in Saturday’s election.
KOSIEC Chairman, Mr. Mamman Nda-Eri, made the announcement in Lokoja, labeling the election as peaceful, free, fair, and credible.
Among the newly elected chairpersons is a woman who has taken the chairmanship role in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area.
“The APC has performed exceptionally well, winning all chairmanship and councillorship positions and leaving no seats for the other 18 political parties that participated,” he stated.
In related news, the results were initially declared at various collation centers by the respective Returning Officers.
“As the Chairman of KOSIEC, I hereby confirm the results that were previously collated and returned by the Returning Officers,” Nda-Eri added.
He also expressed gratitude to the electoral officials, security agencies, observers, and journalists for their roles in ensuring the election’s success.
