Kwankwaso Laments: Gov Yusuf Distracted by Kano’s Enemies for One Year
Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), stated that Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was distracted for nearly a year by what he termed enemies of the state.
Kwankwaso made these remarks on Saturday during the governor’s declaration of a State of Emergency on education in Kano.
The NNPP leader lamented that although Yusuf won the March 2023 gubernatorial election, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), adversaries dragged him to court.
“Despite the fact that the governor was distracted for about a year. Immediately after the election, enemies of the state took him to court – Tribunal, Appeal Court, and Supreme Court.
“We have seen what happened even when they knew there was no need to go to any court or tribunal. Everyone knew he won his election.
“Even the enemies were saying that they wanted to take it by force because they believe they have a government,” he said.
The former Kano governor compared the struggle between Yusuf and the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in the state to his own battles with Boko Haram insurgents when he was in office.
Kwankwaso asserted that despite these distractions, the governor has remained steadfast in his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises.
