The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has officially expelled House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, citing alleged anti-party activities and failure to fulfill his financial obligations to the party.

The announcement was made on Saturday in Kano by the state party chairman, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, during a press briefing with journalists.

According to Dungurawa, the decision to expel Jibrin followed repeated public criticism of the party and its leadership, which he described as damaging to the NNPP’s image. He accused the lawmaker of undermining party unity and engaging in conduct unbecoming of a party member.

Dungurawa also questioned Jibrin’s political strength, claiming his electoral victory was solely due to his affiliation with the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP, rather than personal political influence.

“If he was truly strong politically, he would have won his election under the APC, but he failed,” Dungurawa said. “It was only after he joined the NNPP through the Kwankwasiyya platform that he secured a seat in the House of Representatives. Now, he deceives himself into thinking he is politically strong.”

The expulsion marks a significant rift between the party and one of its most prominent figures in Kano State, raising questions about internal cohesion ahead of future elections.
