The Labour Party (LP) candidate for the 2023 Abeokuta South Federal Constituency election, Tolulope Phillips, has officially joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State.

Phillips registered with the PDP on Tuesday at Ward 7, Ijaye in Abeokuta South Local Government, having previously aligned with the major opposition party shortly after the last election.

In a statement to the press, Phillips expressed his belief that the PDP is well-positioned to govern Ogun State and Nigeria in 2027.

He emphasized the necessity of rescuing Ogun and Nigeria from what he described as “clueless leadership,” which he claims is impoverishing Nigerians with unnecessary and harsh policies.

Phillips remarked, “We all witnessed what happened in Ogun State during the last governorship election. We knew who truly won the mandate of the people, but sadly it ended the way it did. However, I am confident the next election will be different. The PDP is well-positioned and, by God’s grace, will win.”

He also urged Nigerian youths to increase their political participation, stating, “We cannot continue to abandon the political space to the charlatans.”
