Omisore Calls Governor Adeleke a “Political Orphan”, Alleges Plans to Defect to APC
Former Deputy Governor of Osun State and ex-senator, Iyiola Omisore, has described Governor Ademola Adeleke as a “political orphan,” amid growing speculation that the governor is planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday, Omisore claimed that Adeleke has been lobbying APC leaders, including a southern governor, for acceptance into the party.
“For the past three years, he has governed Osun State without a single person defecting from the APC to the PDP,” Omisore said. “Meanwhile, over one-seventh of PDP members have already moved to the APC — notable figures like Alhaji Isa Oyedokun, Dayo Babayemi, Hon. Wole Oke, and others, with more still coming.”
He further alleged that Governor Adeleke is “struggling, begging, and fighting” to join the APC, questioning why someone would force themselves into a party they were not initially aligned with.
Omisore’s comments follow recent reports suggesting that Governor Adeleke may be considering leaving the PDP, particularly after a widely publicized meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu — a move that has intensified rumours of his possible defection.
