The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau I. Jibrin, alongside All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters from Northern Kano, has expressed firm support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term bid, citing his developmental strides in the region.

This endorsement came during the official commissioning of the newly upgraded Federal Polytechnic, Kabo, which has now become the Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo. The conversion was approved by President Tinubu following a request by Senator Barau.

Speaking at the event in Kabo Local Government Area, Barau lauded the President’s commitment to education and infrastructure, noting that his unwavering support has significantly impacted Kano North and the broader Northwest region.

“We told Mr. President our priority was upgrading the college to a university, and he said, ‘Bring it, I will sign it.’ And he did,” Barau told a cheering crowd. He added that subsequent requests for additional institutions, including a new Federal Polytechnic, also received immediate approval.

Barau hailed the transformation as a “monumental gain” for Northern Nigeria, emphasizing that Tinubu’s focus on grassroots education is laying a strong foundation for national development.

“What greater love can a leader show than investing in the future of his people?” he asked, adding that Tinubu has consistently approved all development proposals presented from the region.

He also highlighted the President’s reversal of a previous decision affecting Yusuf Maitama Sule University, which was restored to its federal upgrade status after his intervention.

Minister of State for Housing, Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, also commended President Tinubu’s inclusive leadership and commitment to expanding educational opportunities across the country.

The event drew dignitaries from within and beyond the state, and was hailed as a major milestone for higher education in Kano State.
