Fireworks Incoming! Barney-Smith vs Quartermaine Joins Parker-Wardley Undercard
A second major matchup has been added to the undercard of the Joseph Parker vs. Fabio Wardley heavyweight showdown, set for October 25 at London’s O2 Arena. The highly anticipated clash headlines a Queensberry Promotions event, airing live on DAZN pay-per-view.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Lewis Edmondson will defend his British and Commonwealth light-heavyweight titles against Ezra Taylor in a domestic rivalry that has intensified throughout 2025. Now, Queensberry has officially announced another key addition: rising super-featherweight Royston Barney-Smith will take on Danny Quartermaine in what the promotion is calling the toughest test of Smith’s career so far.
Barney-Smith (undefeated) last fought in April, scoring a dominant eight-round points victory over Cesar Ignacio Paredes. After that win, he publicly called out Quartermaine in a post-fight interview.
“With fellas like that I’m not going to learn nothing,” Smith said on the Queensberry YouTube channel. “I’m looking to push on to bigger and better things. I wouldn’t mind fighting that Danny Quartermaine. He’s got a couple of belts I wouldn’t mind taking off him.”
The two were originally scheduled to face off on July 26, as part of the Ryan Garner vs. Reece Bellotti card, but an injury to Smith forced the fight’s cancellation just weeks before the event.
Now back to full fitness, Smith will challenge Quartermaine for his IBF and WBO European super-featherweight titles. Quartermaine retained both belts in December in a clash with Jack Bateson, which ended in a technical draw after an accidental head clash caused cuts to both fighters, prompting an early stoppage in the second round.
Quartermaine returned to the ring in June, earning a six-round decision over Jayro Fernando Duran to stay active. With his regional titles — and top 15 rankings with both the IBF and WBO — on the line, this matchup presents a pivotal moment in both fighters’ careers.
With two high-stakes domestic clashes now confirmed beneath the Parker-Wardley main event, anticipation continues to build for what is shaping up to be one of Queensberry’s strongest cards of the year.
