Willy Hutchinson made a strong statement tonight at Braehead Arena, stopping Mark Jeffers in the seventh round of their super-middleweight clash, broadcast live on DAZN.

From the opening bell, Hutchinson controlled the action, showcasing slick movement, superior footwork, and a versatile skillset that left Jeffers struggling to keep up. Despite Jeffers’ efforts to stay in the fight—most notably with a crisp jab to the body and some early upper-body movement—he failed to land anything significant aside from a single overhand right in round four.

By round six, commentary from former world champion Carl Frampton highlighted Jeffers’ stiffness and lack of rhythm, noting his rigid style against Hutchinson’s fluid offense.

The turning point came in round seven when Hutchinson landed a sharp right hand high on Jeffers’ head, visibly rocking him. As Jeffers tried to recover, Hutchinson surged forward, unleashing a barrage of punches. With Jeffers unable to defend himself effectively, referee John Latham stepped in to halt the contest at 2:15 of the round.

Clearly energized by the win, Hutchinson (now 19-2, 14 KOs) shouted “Let’s go Scotland!” in celebration, echoing the bravado of his mentor Tyson Fury, and wasted no time in calling for a rematch with Joshua Buatsi.

For Jeffers (now 20-2, 7 KOs), this marks a second consecutive defeat following his first career loss to Sean Hemphill in June. With back-to-back setbacks—culminating in this stoppage—questions now linger about his immediate future in the division.
