Former Liverpool right-back Steve Nicol has called on Manchester United to replace their manager Ruben Amorim following the team’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League derby on Sunday.

Goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland secured a comfortable victory for Pep Guardiola’s side at the Etihad Stadium, leaving the Red Devils searching for answers.

Speaking on ESPN FC’s YouTube channel, Nicol was blunt about the state of the team under Amorim’s leadership.

“Well, they need to change him [Amorim] then. There is no point waiting,” Nicol said.

“He is basically saying, ‘next time we step on the field, this is what we’re dishing out again because I’m not changing anything.’”

Nicol further criticized the squad, suggesting a lack of initiative from both the manager and players.

“There is nobody in the United team that is going to change anything either. It looks a little bit like self-preservation, to be honest, because there is certainly no team there.”
