President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s D’Tigress for advancing to the quarterfinals of the women’s basketball tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics. D’Tigress secured their spot in the last eight with a 79-70 victory over Canada in their final Group B match at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium, France.

In a statement released on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu praised the team for their “remarkable resilience, teamwork, and diligence.” He also commended the coach and staff for their commitment and urged the team to continue striving for victory.

The president assured the team and the Nigerian delegation at the 2024 Olympics of his ongoing support as they represent the nation on the global stage.

He highlighted the team’s success in becoming the first African team—male or female—to reach the Olympic quarterfinals and praised their skillful performance against top-ranked teams.

Enoh also applauded Favour Ofili’s impressive qualification for the women’s 200-meter semi-finals. Ofili achieved a season-best time of 22.24 seconds, winning heat 6 and securing her place in the semi-finals ahead of notable competitors.
