Aviation Minister Decries Begging and Extortion at Nigerian International Airports

The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, on Sunday, condemned reports of begging and extortion at international airports in the country by certain unscrupulous individuals.

In a post on his official X handle, the Minister lamented that the actions of staff who beg and extort travelers are tarnishing the nation’s image.

He mentioned that his cell phone constantly receives messages from concerned citizens complaining about the issue.

The Minister clarified that “most of the agencies involved in this menace are not under the control of the Aviation Ministry, though they are stationed at our airports.

“However, I have been working closely with other Ministers, arms of government, and agencies responsible for these agencies, and a solution is in sight soon.”
