NNPCL Increases Petrol Price to N905/Litre Amid Supply Disruptions

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has raised the pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, at its retail stations.

According to NIGERIA NEWS 247, NNPCL outlets in Wuse Zone 6 and Zone 4, Abuja, have adjusted their petrol prices from N890 to N905 per litre — a N15 or 1.7% increase.

The president of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, attributed the latest price hike to supply disruptions caused by an industrial dispute between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Dangote Refinery.

Maigandi noted that despite the challenges, independent marketers are still dispensing fuel at slightly lower rates, between N885 and N895 per litre.

“It is due to PENGASSAN’s strike disruption. However, members still sell at N885 and N895 per litre,” he said.

The supply issue stems from a recent conflict involving the mass dismissal of Nigerian workers by the Dangote Refinery, which prompted PENGASSAN to embark on a two-day strike. The federal government has since intervened, leading to the suspension of the strike.
