Enugu Air Set to Launch Commercial Flights on July 7, 2025
The Enugu State Government has announced that its state-owned carrier, Enugu Air, will officially begin full commercial operations on Monday, July 7, 2025. The launch represents a major step forward in the state’s agenda to strengthen regional transportation, foster economic development, and improve connectivity within and beyond Nigeria.
Speaking at a press briefing in Enugu, Governor Peter Mbah confirmed the launch date and shared his administration’s vision for the airline. He described Enugu Air as a cornerstone of his broader modernization agenda, noting that the initiative is expected to generate employment, enhance mobility, and position the state as a key player in the regional aviation market.
The airline will begin with domestic routes and plans to expand into West African destinations in the near future. Governor Mbah also revealed that Enugu Air has acquired a fleet of modern aircraft and secured all necessary approvals from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), ensuring full compliance with safety and operational standards.
The announcement has been met with widespread excitement among residents in Enugu and surrounding states, who see the airline as a symbol of regional pride and progress. Industry experts suggest that Enugu Air could play a vital role in easing travel within the Southeast, reducing reliance on more distant airports, and attracting investment and tourism.
The state government has assured travelers that Enugu Air will prioritize safety, affordability, and reliable service as it prepares for takeoff.
