The Lagos State chapter of the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) has unveiled ambitious plans to establish direct-to-consumer sales points in every Local Government Area (LGA) across the state. This initiative aims to streamline the distribution of poultry products, especially eggs, by cutting out intermediaries and reducing costs for consumers.

PAN officials revealed that this direct sales approach could lower egg prices by up to ₦1,000 per crate, offering significant relief amid frequent price fluctuations. The strategy is designed to increase accessibility and affordability, particularly for low- and middle-income households, while providing poultry farmers with a more stable market and improved income.

In collaboration with local government authorities, PAN is working to identify ideal locations and ensure efficient operations of these sales points. This move aligns with broader efforts to strengthen agricultural value chains and enhance food security in Lagos State.

With growing urban demand for affordable protein, PAN’s initiative could become a blueprint for other states facing similar supply chain challenges. Stakeholders in the Lagos poultry industry remain optimistic that closer connections between producers and consumers will benefit the entire ecosystem.
