Tapswap Indefinitely Postpones Token Allocation Date
A popular tap-to-earn app, Tapswap, powered by TON Blockchain, has announced an indefinite postponement of its token allocation to users as the team explores the best ways to reward participants.
This was disclosed by Tapswap’s Head of Communications, John Robbin, during a discussion on X Space on Wednesday.
The app, which requires users to tap the icon in the center of the Telegram Tapswap bot screen to mine coins, has recently gained significant traction among Nigerians, amassing over 50 million users since its launch on February 15, 2024.
Robbin stated that the method of token allocation is still under review and cannot be communicated prior to finalization. “The token launch was postponed until July 1. The new date will be communicated,” he said. “We will allocate a significant part of the tokens to the community to retain the tappers. We want you all to be part of the Tapswap community. We need a token airdrop to be a win-win for all of us. We have started communicating with many exchanges and platforms.”
He also emphasized that users exploiting the system to farm taps and abuse the game would be banned, with community members helping to identify genuine tappers.
On the mining process, Robbin explained, “Just open the app and tap on it; that will give you shares. The more you tap and the more upgrades you do, the more shares you will have when we finalize the tokens. The more tokens you want to have, the more tapping you have to do.”
Regarding the booster option, which has ended, he clarified, “We have grown exponentially faster than we thought, so to develop the game plan further, we introduced a paid feature to make capital, but it was not mandated on the users. We introduced the limited x2 donation to allow new users to compete with those who started earlier. It is gone for now, but we are looking forward to using the money earned to improve the game in the future. It is all going to our 25 staffers working around the clock to sustain the app. We want to be here for a very long time.”
Robbin encouraged continued participation in the app, reassuring users that there is still time to accumulate an appreciable amount of tokens.
Nigerians of all ages have been obsessively tapping on their phones, with some expressing hopes of using their accumulated tokens to buy cars and houses. In a viral clip, a Keke driver was seen tapping away on his phone with one hand while steering his vehicle and transporting passengers. Another video showed traders in Northern Nigeria tapping vigorously on their screens.
