ICYMI: Osun Herbalist Claims Devil Influenced Him to Kill Friend for Ritual
Ganiyu Kehinde, a herbalist from Oba-Oke, Osun State, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his friend, Emmanuel Collins, to obtain human parts for money rituals.
Kehinde was one of several suspects paraded by the Osun State Police Command at their headquarters in Osogbo on Friday. The spokesperson for the Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, detailed the case, stating that it was reported at the Oke-Odo Division in Osogbo that a 35-year-old Ghanaian, Collins, was killed by an unknown individual.
“Police detectives acted promptly, and through intelligence-led investigation, arrested Kehinde Ganiyu, a close friend of the deceased. He confessed to the crime, revealing that on July 9, 2024, around 9:00 pm, he went to Collins’ residence with a knife and found him asleep due to illness.
“He admitted to slaughtering Collins with a kitchen knife and removing his throat. Kehinde then dried the throat for three days before taking it to a bush in Igbo Imese Aiwosi Area, Oba-Oke village. There, he burned it in a clay pot with ritual materials and mixed the burnt powder with soap for a money ritual (OSOLE).
“Kehinde confessed to singlehandedly carrying out the operation. The investigation is ongoing, and he will be charged to court accordingly,” Opalola said.
During questioning, Kehinde, who claimed to be a herbalist, admitted to the killing, stating that he used the throat for a money ritual soap. He expressed remorse, attributing his actions to the devil and revealing that he had previously made similar soaps for four Yahoo boys.
Also paraded was Effiong Saviour, a 22-year-old, who allegedly attacked a woman with a cutlass in Ipetumodu, robbing her of her handbag containing a phone, GTB ATM card, and N6,000 after inflicting machete cuts on her.
Opalola warned against criminal activities and urged residents to provide timely information to help prevent crimes, assuring that all suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
