Legendary Reggae Artist, Jimmy Cliff Dies at 81

Reggae legend and actor Jimmy Cliff (born James Chambers) has passed away, according to a statement shared on his social media accounts. The post said he died following a seizure and complications from pneumonia.

His wife, writing on his official Facebook page, expressed profound grief, stating: “It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia.”

She thanked his family, friends, fellow artists, and colleagues for being part of his journey. She also addressed his fans worldwide: “To all his fans around the world, please know that your support was his strength throughout his whole career. He really appreciated every fan for their love.”

She went on to extend gratitude to the medical team that cared for him: “I also wanted to thank Dr. Couceyro and the whole medical staff, as they have been extremely supportive and helpful during this difficult process.”

She concluded with a heartfelt farewell: “Jimmy, my darling, may you rest in peace. I will follow your wishes. I hope you all can respect our privacy during these hard times. Further information will be provided at a later date.”
