Economist Adetilewa Adebajo Criticizes Tinubu’s Administration Over Reckless Fiscal Spending

Economist Adetilewa Adebajo has identified fiscal spending as a major challenge facing President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Speaking on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Adebajo described the government’s spending approach as “a bit reckless” and called for tighter controls.

“Tinubu is moving in the right direction, but my main concern is the fiscal spending—it’s somewhat reckless and needs to be curtailed,” Adebajo said.

He added that this fiscal approach is contributing to core inflation. “If you exclude food inflation, which can be managed by improving security and boosting agriculture, the remaining inflation—particularly energy inflation—may be harder to control due to subsidy removals.”
