The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company - KAEDCO

The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service has taken action against the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company by sealing its premises due to an outstanding tax obligation of N600 million.

In a statement to reporters following the operation early Friday morning, KADIRS Executive Chairman Jerry Adams explained that this action was carried out in compliance with a court order aimed at addressing KAEDCO’s tax liability to the state.

He noted that this N600 million tax obligation spans from 2015 to 2022, during which time reconciliations were conducted and KAEDCO had agreed to pay a significant portion of the amount owed.

However, Adams expressed disappointment that, despite the liability being established last year, KAEDCO has yet to fulfill its commitment.

According to him, we have legal authority to secure and take control of their property to guarantee adherence, and that is precisely what we carried out this morning.

Adams urged businesses, individuals, corporations, and the general public to consistently prioritize voluntary compliance with tax obligations.
