Abia State Govt Extends School Revalidation Deadline to August 29, 2025
The Abia State Government, through its Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has extended the ongoing revalidation exercise for private schools to August 29, 2025.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Goodluck Ubochi, warned that any private school that fails to complete the revalidation process by the new deadline will be shut down immediately, with no opportunity for appeal.
Ubochi emphasized that the revalidation exercise is entirely free of charge, cautioning school operators against making any payments to individuals, whether within or outside the ministry.
“Let it be clear: Any private school in Abia State that is not captured in the ongoing revalidation exercise will be closed down without exception or appeal,” the commissioner stated.
Despite the government’s stance, a source within the education sector in Umuahia told Nigeria News 247 that some private schools in Umuahia and Aba are still avoiding the exercise. The source speculated that their reluctance might stem from concerns over increased government oversight.
