ASUU Urges Tinubu to Revitalize Nigeria’s Tertiary Institutions

Published

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to address the union’s concerns regarding the revitalization of the nation’s tertiary institutions.

Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, AKure Zone, Adeola Egbedokin, emphasized the neglect of past administrations towards ASUU’s demands, leading to ongoing crises and academic exodus.

Egbedokun urged the Tinubu-led administration to prioritize the review and endorsement of the Nimi Briggs-led renegotiated draft agreement of 2021 to restore hope in public universities.

Additionally, ASUU called for the lifting of the federal government’s employment embargo in universities and emphasized the importance of respecting university autonomy to ensure lasting peace and academic excellence.
