ASUU Threatens Nationwide Strike Over Absence of University Governing Councils

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has raised the specter of another nationwide strike to protest the continued absence of governing councils in all federal universities across Nigeria, among other unresolved issues with the Federal Government.

Speaking at a press conference held at the union’s national secretariat in Abuja, ASUU President Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke issued the warning, highlighting the dissolution of university governing councils by the Federal Government in May of the previous year. ASUU urged Nigerians to hold the government accountable for any actions it takes in response to this perceived neglect.
