Cavista Holdings Partners with University of Texas to Streamline the Admissions process
In an effort to support African students aiming to study abroad by simplifying the admission process and providing access to top-quality education, Cavista Holdings has teamed up with the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) to establish a liaison office in Lagos.
At the launch event, Cavista Holdings Chairman and UTD alumnus, Mr. John Olajide, highlighted that the new office will make it easier for Nigerians to access quality education by streamlining the admissions process. He also emphasized that the office will foster strong relationships, attract top students, and enrich their experiences at UTD, benefiting them throughout their lives. Olajide credited UTD with contributing to his success and expressed confidence that bringing Nigeria and Africa’s brightest students to UTD will enhance the university’s reputation.
UTD President Richard Benson expressed his gratitude for the partnership and assured that the university remains committed to providing high-quality education to students worldwide. Benson noted that during the 2023-2024 academic year, approximately 20% of enrolled students were from countries outside the U.S.
John Gonzalez, the team lead, stated that the office will strengthen collaboration between UTD scholars and Nigerian researchers, creating opportunities for Nigerian and African youth and contributing to the country’s development.
UTD Provost Inga Musselman emphasized the university’s diverse academic offerings, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees across seven faculties, with a strong focus on STEM education.
U.S. Consul General in Nigeria, Mr. Will Stevens, remarked that increasing study opportunities in the U.S. will enhance knowledge exchange, benefiting research institutions, businesses, and investors in both nations.
