Covenant University Named Nigeria’s best University for 2024

Covenant University has once again claimed the best position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024.

This ranking evaluates universities based on various performance metrics, positioning the Ota-based institution above other prominent Nigerian universities and reaffirming its status as a leader in higher education.

The 2024 rankings analyzed 1,907 universities across 108 countries, using 18 performance indicators in five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.

Covenant University emerged as Nigeria’s top university, surpassing the University of Ibadan, Federal University of Technology Akure, and the University of Lagos, which ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively.

This year’s list highlights changes in the global higher education landscape, with over 134 million citations from 16.5 million research publications assessed and survey responses from more than 68,000 scholars worldwide.

Other Nigerian institutions in the top ten include Bayero University, University of Ilorin, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Afe Babalola University, while the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta secured the 10th position.
