The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned corps members nationwide against taking the law into their own hands during or after their service year.

The caution was issued by the Bauchi State Coordinator, Umoren Kufre, on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch ā€˜C’ Stream 1 corps members at the permanent orientation camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.

ā€œI urge you to obey all rules and regulations guiding the NYSC. If you observe any irregularity, do not take the laws into your hands. Always use the appropriate channels to express your grievances. Management will provide the basic amenities you require in camp. Your safety and comfort remain our utmost priority,ā€ Kufre stated.

He revealed that 2,050 corps members were deployed to Bauchi State for the one-year mandatory service. He noted that the orientation exercise had proceeded smoothly, with participants actively engaging in camp activities.

Kufre also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his support to the scheme, including the renovation of corps members’ hostels and the construction of a new multipurpose hall at the camp. He appealed for the reconstruction of a section of the perimeter fence that collapsed about a year ago.

Declaring the orientation programme open, Governor Mohammed, represented by the State Head of Service, Mohammed Umar, urged corps members to be champions of national development and transformation. He advised them to take their service seriously and uphold the NYSC’s objectives of unity and national growth.
