Ogun University Denies Campus Closure, Confirms No Bandit Activity in Ijebu-Ode
The management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, has dismissed viral reports claiming the institution was shut down due to an alleged bandit invasion of Ijebu-Ode, describing them as false, malicious, and misleading.
The university said the reports were intended to create unnecessary panic within the university community and across the state. NIGERIA NEWS 247 had earlier reported that students were allegedly ordered to leave their hostels following a purported security breach.
However, the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dapo Oke, stated on Friday that no such directive was issued. He confirmed that neither Ijebu-Ode nor the Ijagun campus was under any form of attack, reassuring the public that academic and administrative activities are proceeding normally, with students’ welfare and safety prioritized.
“There was never a closure of the institution, nor were students asked to leave their hostels. The environment in Ijebu-Ode and Ijagun remains peaceful and safe. All staff and students are advised to go about their academic and lawful duties without any anxiety,” Oke said.
The university urged the public to rely solely on its official communication channels for credible updates and avoid spreading unverified information.
