Three Cross River State University students have died in a car accident while traveling home following the institution’s two-week closure intended to prevent student participation in the August 1 hardship protest.

The students were en route to Ogoja when the crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon near Ikom along the Calabar–Ikom highway. They were traveling by bus.

An eyewitness, Ndoma Akunobor, reported that the deceased students were from the departments of Microbiology, Plant Science, and Biotechnology. Their names have not been confirmed.
