AGN President Emeka Rollas Urges Support for Regina Daniels Amid Substance Abuse Concerns
Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has publicly called on Nollywood veterans to speak up regarding actress Regina Daniels’ alleged substance abuse.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Rollas addressed what he described as “many allegations, misconceptions, and unnecessary accusations” surrounding the ongoing controversy. He noted that Senator Ned Nwoko serves as the AGN’s Chairman, Board of Patrons, while Regina Daniels and her mother, Rita Daniels, are members of the guild.
Rollas explained that many colleagues have urged him to respond to the crisis and emphasized his responsibility to the guild and the public. “I owe it to myself, to the Guild and to the public to speak the truth clearly and responsibly,” he stated.
He named prominent actors—including Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji, Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, and Chinyere Wilfred—as witnesses to Regina Daniels allegedly abusing substances on movie sets. Questioning their silence, Rollas said: “For years, the Board of Trustees has allowed me to stand at the frontline of battles, while they protect their reputations from behind. Many senior colleagues know the truth surrounding recent events, yet they have remained silent.
I am calling on those who were present at the last series shoot and fully aware of what is happening. Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, and Sanni Danji—you saw things firsthand regarding Regina, and we all know she needs help. Your silence is unfair, and it leaves me exposed to attacks for matters I did not create.”
Rollas also alleged that during preparations for a roundtable meeting in South Africa, Senator Nwoko imposed a condition that Regina would only be allowed to travel if she avoided passing through Lagos. He stressed that this condition has been misrepresented in public discussions.
