Reactions have continued to pour in after a circulating CCTV video showed Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire physically assaulting actor Taye Arimoro on a movie set.

NIGERIA NEWS 247 earlier reported that Arimoro had, on Wednesday, taken to Instagram to accuse Ovire of assault and human rights violations. He alleged that the actress detained him on Tuesday night, assaulted him, and insisted he film “two quick scenes” before he would be allowed to leave.

According to Arimoro, Ovire directed her crew and driver to block his vehicle and beat him after he attempted to leave the film location around 12 a.m., having already exceeded their agreed working hours.

Reacting to the accusation, Peggy Ovire claimed via her Instagram stories that Arimoro had first assaulted her driver.

However, CCTV footage released Thursday morning contradicted her account, showing the actress and her driver physically attacking the actor in the presence of several crew members.

The footage has sparked widespread condemnation, with many Nigerians accusing the actress of lying and abusing her position.

Here are some reactions:

  • @Linda_ify1: “Imagine a married woman treating someone’s son, husband, father like that. I wonder how she treats her husband at home. I really felt bad for Taye.”

  • @Olisa_Mani: “So she was the aggressor? Pushing him while her boys deflated his tyres? I hope the movie they were harassing him for is a Netflix Original?”

  • @akwabekie: “So she lied. Omo, Peggy lied… CCTV has come out, and it shows she even assaulted the actor. It’s like I will stop supporting women. She almost wrecked this guy’s career.”

  • @Symply_Amanosi: “I never believed Peggy from the beginning; this just proves that she lied. You want someone to work extra hours past his time, and you choose to be aggressive about it.”

  • @buzzard737: “Why did she instruct her team to deflate his tyres? The estate security should have intervened from the onset. This is so wrong.”

  • @PearlyBold: “Peggy, you be ekwensu. See the way she was pushing the guy, and that guy didn’t touch her.”
